Subject: wonderful show
i am in NYC for the Open Video Conference
(presented a 30-minute talk today, woo!)

The wonderful folks at Democracy Now! were amazingly kind to let me watch them tape live this show in their soon-to-be-historic "firehouse studio". The show was great and Cleve Jones was nothing short of eloquently amazing. I had to hold myself together in the control room to not burst into tears a couple times.

One thing observed in the taping was when the segment showing all the AIDS quilts laid out on The Mall in Washington, DC, all eyes stopped and stared at the image that kept going longer and longer, and the normally bustling production team was very quiet. It was really heartwrenching to see but amazing to be a part of...
